Song written by Gene Pistilli, and recorded by Randy Travis, in November of 1987 for the Warner Bros. label and produced by Kyle Lehning. The song was included in Randy’s second album, Always & Forever (Warner Bros 1987), on March 12, the song reached number one on the US charts (being his fifth number one, he still had 11 numbers one arrive), getting the same place in the Canadian lists. The album also reached number one. After the first job, which was perfect, I leave the list very high, but Randy continued on the same level, with another album 100% country. Randy Travis became one of the best country singers of the decade, if not the best.

Randy Travis – Too Gone Too Long Lyrics

You’ve been too gone, for too long,
It’s too late to come back now
It’s been so long since you walked out my door
Now you’re just an old song nobody sings anymore
I gotta a new love and she’s the true love
But darlin’ how could you have known?
You’ve been too gone, for too long
Now it’s too late to come back home

You’ve came a long way, goin’ the wrong way
Don’t even set your suitcase down
You wanted to roam, now you’re paying the bills
You’re an old rollin’ stone who rode over the hills
I had a good cry when you said “Goodbye”
I didn’t wanna let you go
But you’ve been too gone for too long
Now it’s too late to come back home

I had a good cry when you said “Goodbye”
I didn’t wanna let you go
But you’ve been too gone for too long
So why don’t you just stay gone?
Now you’ve been too gone for too long
Now it’s too late to come back home
