Steel Guitar Rag

Steel guitarist Leon McAuliffe composed and recorded “Steel Guitar Rag” in 1936 while he was the featured steel guitarist with Bob Wills & his Texas Playboys. The song became the most popular steel guitar instrumental ever recorded, and McAuliffe gained fame due to Wills’ introduction to the song in live performances and on the original record, saying “Take it away, Leon…”
First recorded by Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys in 1936.
