Ernest Tubb Drivin’ Nails In My Coffin Lyrics

DRIVIN’ NAILS IN MY COFFIN
(Jerry Irby)

My sweetheart has gone and I am so lonely
She said that she and I are through
So I started out drinking for past time
Driving nails in my coffin over you

Course:
I’m just driving nails in my coffin
Every time I drink a bottle of booze
I’m just driving nails in my coffin
Lord, drivin’ those nails over you

INSTRUMENTALS

Now ever since the day that we parted
Well I’ve been so lonely and so blue
And I’m always thinking of you only
And I just can’t quit drinking that old booze

Course:
I’m just driving nails in my coffin
Every time I drink a bottle of booze
I’m just driving nails in my coffin
Lord, drivin’ those nails over you

INSTRUMENTALS

Now you turned me down’ you don’t want me
There’s nothing now I can loose
I’m just driving those nails in my coffin
And worrying my darling over you

Course:
I’m just driving nails in my coffin
Every time I drink a bottle of booze
I’m just driving nails in my coffin
Lord, drivin’ those nails over you
